For many lama owners, showing their beloved pets is a natural extension of their recreational activities. Llamas are judged on traits which indicate quality of fiber, physical conformation and structure, and the ability to serve their intended uses as pack, driving, and companion animals. The Alpaca and Llama Show Association (ALSA) is dedicated to the promotion of llamas and alpacas by:
1. Enhancing the visibility of llamas and alpacas.
2. Showing the versatility of llamas and alpacas.
3. Establishing guidelines for shows.
4. Awarding recognition to champions.

Become a member and have a voice in the organization, receive the newsletter with information on all upcoming ALSA shows and point totals for listed animals. When youth show in obstacle classes, the youth receives the points. In novice and advanced or open classes, the animal receives the points.
Throughout the country, lamas gather at fun festivals, county fairs and Regional shows. The natural affinity of llamas and children my be demonstrated through their efforts on the obstacle course. Public Relations Llama Classes show the adaptability of the llama to the myriad of activities associated with interactions with the public. Driving Classes, Packing Classes, and Showmanship Competitions give llamas and their owners the opportunity to assess their abilities in comparison with others.
