How Technology Affects Animals
Posted on February 6th, 2012 No commentsWith the quickly advancing technology in the world, there are positives and negatives that come along with it. Technology is generally accepted as a way to help improve our lives. However, there are many downsides that come along with progressing technology, for example it’s effects on animals. Industrialization and technology can have good and bad effects on animals, but a lot of times it’s for the worse.
With technology progressing every single day, it’s effects on animals are often overlooked. One of the main ways advancing technology is hurting animals is through the changes in their natural environment. When space is needed to put telephone poles, houses, or hang power lines the natural habitat of the animals in that area is destroyed. While this may be convenient for us, it sure isn’t for the animals. In areas such as farming, technology has enabled food production to be increased, but has led to enormous human population growth which spreads across the natural environment, through the building of houses, businesses, and much more. There are many different businesses that use technology to gain access to natural resources such as oil, gas, and coal. This is beneficial to us humans, but completely eliminates the environment these animals are living in. There are also other negative effects of technology on animals, besides destroying their natural environment. Technology has led to lots of chemicals being released into the atmosphere, leading to acid rain which causes damage to plants and animals directly. The smog and smoke lowers the quality of the air, which affects animals in a very negative way. These chemicals can lead to mutations, disease, and death.

Technology isn’t all bad when it comes to it’s effects on animals. There are some benefits to technology, it has led to many vaccines which protect dogs from parovirus, adenovirus, and parainfluenza, cats from feline leukemia and rabies, and much more. The advancement of technology also has led to more successes and animal surgery, with new techniques being added every day to help keep animals safe. Even though technology can be used to increase productivity, allowing humans to do more in less time, it doesn’t always outweigh the cons, which often negatively effect animals. What needs to be done is people need to become more aware of the pros and cons of technology, and become aware of how technology affects animals.

Creating a Website about Pets
Posted on December 10th, 2011 No commentsThere are a number of reasons for creating a website about pets, from offering pet accessories to showing off the pets you have. In order to get started, there are a couple of things you need to do, but the process isn’t scary and can be fun.
1.) Decide on a domain name and register it. Feel free to get creative with your naming, but make it easy to remember so people looking for you can find you. When you select a service to host your domain name, you will be able to select from their naming options, as well as service choices, which may include having advertisements on the site, may dictate how many pages you can have or how large the total content can be. There will be a monthly charge for your site which will vary depending upon your chosen host.
2.) Design your site. Decide if you want only text to describe your amazing pets, or if you will be adding additional items. Pictures of your pets and adorable animals can increase traffic to your site… pet parents like to show off their ‘kids’. A website about pets can also include videos – anything from how to introduce a new pet to your family to the crazy antics of your furry friends.
Once your site is ready you follow the host’s directions and your site will be live. As you spend time creating a website about pets, you can decide what you want to incorporate into your finished product. A weekly blog about pet issues could drive traffic to your site, as well as allow you to interact with other people who have the same interests. If your pets are show animals, noting any affiliations or awards you’ve won will also increase your credibility. Remember that putting together a website about pets is a chance for you and your pet to shine!

How to Feed Your Pet on a Budget
Posted on November 15th, 2011 No commentsDogs have long been considered to be man’s best friend. Dogs, cats, and other pets alike have provided humans with love and companionship for generations and will continue to do so. But while pets are loved dearly, they also have the ability to put a financial strain on their owners. In addition to costly vet bills that rack up, the cost of feeding them daily starts to add up over time. Pet owners like their fur babies healthy and happy, but don’t want to break the bank for it. Pet owners can avoid wasting money on costly food by altering their food shopping habits.
When shopping for pet food most owners will choose the food that is popular. While well known brands tend to be reputable, they are also more costly. If the owner truly desires a particular brand of food, he or she needs to start looking for deals. This means that he or she must search for coupons, price check at different stores, and search for sales.
Many pet owners have also found discounts through purchasing food in bulk. Owners can find these bulk sized packages of pet food in pet stores, grocery stores, and warehouse stores in most neighborhoods. When preparing to make a purchase, pet owners should calculate the price of the food per ounce. This step will prevent them from making purchases due to a misleading price.
Another option that saves owners money is feeding their pets real food. Many people do not realize that many household pets can consume many of the same foods that humans do. Owners should educate themselves on what those foods are for their particular pets and implement these foods into the pet’s diet. For example, many pet owners are not aware of the fact that dogs are capable of digesting many fruits and vegetables. These owners are able to stretch out the pet food that they do have because it is being supplemented with healthy additives that are already in the house.
It is important to most people to save money where they can, but it is equally important to make sure that the pet is not suffering as a result. Pet owners can save money and give their pets the nutrition that they need to live happy lives. Good deals are not always easy to find, but with a little work owners will definitely find themselves saving money.

We Love Our Pets
Posted on October 22nd, 2011 No comments
People love animals and believe that they can give them a good life. Our pets become integrated into our families as one of the family members. It’s just not cats and dogs who become pets but fish, hamsters, birds, snakes, ferrets, and turtles. This list is just a small fragment of the different types of pets we can own.
While fish do not need our daily companionship, they do need us to feed them and keep the fish tank clean. Investing the time and money to purchase the right tank and equipment for their fish is a rewarding outlet.
Cats and dogs are the most common type of pet in the United States. Cats are great companions. Cats are easy to live with and fun to play with around the house. A purring cat sleeping on your lap relieves any type of stress that you are experiencing.
People will give you many good reasons why you should keep a dog as a pet. They greet you at the door regardless of what time you have come home. Besides companionship, they do not notice your faults and will love you unconditionally. They will protect your home and family. Having your dog lying next to you while you are stroking his head or his body is a great stress reliever for the both of you. It is so easy to find friends for your pet when you associate yourself with a San Francisco dog walker. San Francisco is a great place for dogs and their owners. On any random street you can find someone walking their dog.
Ferrets love to play chase, play hide and seek, play tag with you and they like to dance. They use the dancing to get you to play with them. Ferrets require constant attention.
Hamsters, rats, and guinea pigs are fun to keep and are a great learning experience for children. The sad part of having these rodents as pets is they only last for a couple of years.
Snakes require little attention. Corn snakes and ball pythons are very popular as pets. You can show them off to your friends but you do not have to worry about the snake jumping or scratching.
A few of us want to keep any type of animal as a pet without knowing if they are dangerous. Not all animals’ especially wild animals, snakes, or mammals are ready to become our pets. Enough domestic animals need a home and they are ready to become your pet.

Where to Go to Ride Llamas
Posted on September 1st, 2011 No commentsLlamas are fascinating animals that come from the countries of Peru, Bolivia, and Chile. Llamas were first introduced to the United States around the 1920s, by enthusiasts that wanted exotic animals for their own private zoos. Llamas are prized for their hair, which makes for ultra warm yarn. Llamas have been a popular addition for today’s modern farms and ranches, where most of the time they are available to be pet by curious customers, and llama rides are available.

Llamas can hold a third of their body weight very easily, and were long prized as being superior pack animals. Their disposition is very gentle, but they are better for riding by children, and not by adults because of their body structure. Llamas are quite popular creatures, but beware as they do spit fairly often, much like camels. You can find a llama to ride at your nearby ranch, resort area, and even at some farmer markets and fairs.
Most of the time, llamas when they are not being used for recreational riding, or tracking through rough terrain, they are used for their fibrous hairs which are very desirable, or for educational purposes. Children under 50 pounds are the most suitable riders for a llama. Llamas have very sensitive spines, so direct weight caused by a heavy person and saddle equipment directly over the llama’s hump would possibly endanger the creature.
When you are riding a llama, it is important to be gentle and confident with the animal, as to establish good control and not worry the llama. You never want to kick a llama, or hurt the animal in any way to get it moving. Have someone steady the llama when you are mounting and dismounting. Treat your llama with respect, let it rest to get food and water as needed, and ride safely.

2. Make sure you have an accountant who is familiar with small business accounting.
3. Location is key. When you are making appointments to meet with potential landlords, you need to make sure they are aware of the fact that this will be a pet shop location. Have your attorney look over all of the papers and approve them before signing the contract or foregoing any monies.

Take the time to choose a specialty to separate your store from all the rest. It will also make clean-up and socialization a breeze, since you can have similar species in the same housing.
2. Hire a crew to handle all of the clean-up and animal care for you.
3. Make sure you have a reliable distributor to supply the species you decide to specialize in. Check all of the references and take a tour of their facilities, but above all make sure you get a guarantee.

6. Have your attorney draw up the contracts for the sale that specifies the health guarantee.
